Goa Shipyard Ltd launched ICGS Atal (Yard 1275)—6th in a series of indigenously designed Fast Patrol Vessels for Indian Coast Guard.

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, successfully launched “ICGS Atal” (Yard 1275)—the sixth in a series of eight state-of-the-art indigenously designed Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) being constructed for the Indian Coast Guard.

The vessel was ceremoniously launched by Shilpa Agarwal, in the august presence of Rozy Agarwal, IDAS, Principal Integrated Financial Advisor (PIFA), Coast Guard Headquarters, at GSL's technologically advanced shipbuilding yard in Vasco-da-Gama.

The event was graced by dignitaries from the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, Ministry of Defence, strategic industry partners, and GSL officials epitomising the spirit of collaboration and national resilience in defence manufacturing.

Speaking at the launch, Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Chairman & Managing Director, GSL, remarked:

“The launch of ICGS Atal is yet another milestone in our enduring journey toward a self-reliant India. This vessel reflects the indomitable spirit of Team GSL and its unwavering commitment to indigenisation, innovation, and excellence in shipbuilding, even amidst global supply chain challenges.”

Rozy Agarwal, the Chief Guest, lauded GSL's robust execution capabilities and its pivotal role in advancing the nation's maritime security.

The FPVs, designed in-house at GSL, are 52 metres in length, with an 8-metre beam and 320-tonne displacement. These high-speed assets are equipped to conduct coastal patrols, island security missions, and offshore asset protection, significantly augmenting India's maritime domain awareness and national security.

The launch of ICGS Atal stands as a glowing testament to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, reinforcing India's ascendance as a global hub for indigenous defence manufacturing.
