Defence Minister witness's naval operation

On a two visit to western coast to witness Indian Navy's operational prowess, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on January 8, arrived at Indian Naval Base INS Hansa, Goa.

Upon her arrival she was briefed by the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba about the Navy's showcase of operational might and maritime prowess. Termed as 'Rakshamantri's Day at Sea' programme which witnessed more than ten ships, including aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, a submarine and various naval aircrafts exhibiting their combat capabilities and battle readiness.

Appreciating the Naval personnel for their professionalism, the Minister in a tweet said, “Back on shore after a memorable and awe-inspiring visit - a day at sea. INS Vikramaditya and other ships of the fleet show the great class they belong to! The nation salutes you. Dedication and professional excellence showcased. Jai Hind.”

From on board INS Vikramaditya, she saw some air/heli borne under-water detection capabilities along with Admiral Lanba and Flag Officer Commanding in Chief (FoC in C) Western Command Vice Admiral Girish Luthra.

She also interacted with the with sea warriors on board INS Kolkata.
